About
Dr. Prithvi Pande
Board-Certified Internal Medicine, Santa Barbara, CA
Dr. Pande opened this concierge internal medicine practice because the conventional system treats people as throughput. He built it around what medicine is supposed to be: listening carefully, thinking thoroughly, and treating every patient as a person, not a case to process.

Dr. Pande opened this concierge internal medicine practice because the conventional system treats people as throughput. He built it around what medicine is supposed to be: listening carefully, thinking thoroughly, and treating every patient as a person, not a case to process.
The Path to This Practice
Dr. Pande’s medical training brought him to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for his internal medicine residency. The program combined the rigor of an academic medical center with the intimacy of a community hospital, and he earned its teaching award as a senior resident, an experience that anchored what would become the center of his professional life.
Before and after residency, he trained and practiced across a wide range of settings, including clinical rotations in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Chicago, Florida, and rural California, followed by hospitalist work from rural Northern California to Marin County and back to Santa Barbara and Ventura. He worked within the Kaiser, Sutter, and UCLA systems, and each taught him something about what makes medicine work and what breaks it down.
Through all of it, he kept returning to Santa Barbara and to the residency program at Cottage Hospital. Teaching kept him accountable, kept him current, and kept him connected to the specialists and systems patients depend on.
The UCLA experience was the final catalyst. Working as a hospitalist with lower-than-typical patient volumes gave him something unusual: time to have extended conversations, explain not just the diagnosis but the reasoning behind it, and know patients and families across multiple visits.
This concierge practice is built on what he learned about what people actually need from their physician, what medicine requires when done right, and what a practice should look like when built around those things.

Philosophy
How Dr. Pande practices medicine.
Intellectual rigor as care
Staying current with medical literature is not a chore for Dr. Pande. It is one of the parts of medicine he finds most satisfying. He reads primary research, listens to expert commentary, attends lectures at Cottage Hospital, and holds ongoing conversations with specialists across disciplines.
The family standard
Dr. Pande became a physician in part so he would have the knowledge to take care of his own family. The care and recommendations he gives you are the same he would give his own family, and that is the lens he uses for every clinical decision.
Honest about the strengths and limitations of medicine
When a standard workup comes back normal but you still do not feel right, Dr. Pande stays with the problem. He is transparent about what is known, what is not, and what the available options are.
A relationship built on trust
Trust requires time and honesty. Dr. Pande will tell you where the evidence ends and expert opinion begins, and he will still be here next year and the year after that.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where did Dr. Pande complete his medical training?
Dr. Pande earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
Is Dr. Pande still involved with the hospital system?
What drove Dr. Pande to open a concierge practice?
After years working as a hospitalist across several health systems, he saw firsthand what patients lose when physicians don’t have time to think carefully or communicate clearly. This practice was built to fix that.

Yes. He has said the recommendations he gives patients are the same ones he would give his own family, and that standard shapes every clinical decision he makes.
